It took for Sally Helgesen to recognize self-awareness. Self-awareness is “a process in which individuals understand themselves, including their strengths and weaknesses and the impact they have on others.” (Northouse, p. 202) At first, she envisioned herself as college professor but also enjoyed freelancing. She wasn’t sure about how she would identify herself in the beginning until her journey. The conflict bothered her so she explored more opportunities as possibly as she can as a writer and never give up on her passion until she become successful. Through her journey, she learned to understand about her values and what she stands for. She wrote a book and covered stories in her journey, one book came out with a little recognition, but it increases her confidence and commitment for …show more content…
She strive so hard to strengthen her conviction and develop more of her authenticity by building up her confidence and commitment. She knew from what is right and wrong and still continue to be passionate as a writer and dedicated about her work to the point that she did not let her label as being an “outsider looking in” get in the way to achieve success in what she does. Her journey made her become stronger, compassionate and resilience as she was able to adapt hardships, know others, their culture, and their life stories through traveling the world delivering seminars and working with a variety of clients. Her compassion about learning other cultures and staying with current trends inspired her to stand and make a difference in the society emphasizing the importance of women’s perspectives in the organization. Through her strong views, she advocated and develop awareness by writing more books and became very successful and writing for more. At the end, she still continues to be an internationally consultant and speaker on contemporary
