My prime suspect was of two co-operative women: Lauren and Elaine. A few examples that led me to believe that Lauren and Elaine lived together. This meant that they both had more than enough time to establish a concrete plan and both had the means and motive to use coercive measures to attack Mr. Brooks as they both knew him very well. On the other had, As I read through the data collected about each suspect, I have come to the conclusion that Elaine is the mastermind and culprit in this crime. Through process of elimination with the given information, it was easy to immediately eliminate Peggy, Rita, and Janice, as they either were non-smokers ,did not wear lipstick, or did not like the color yellow. The most difficult to eliminate was Lauren. Everything stated about her made it plausible that she might of worked alongside Elaine to commit the crime, yet with a quick re-examination, I found that Lauren is allergic to all species of flowering plants, which meant that she could not have possibly took part in the act as the crime took place in in an open field of daisies. …show more content…
I would hope to find from the Saliva DNA testing whose saliva was left on the wine glasses where the lipstick stain was and on the cigarette butte. From this evidence, it would connect the culprit to their saliva. Furthermore, a fingerprint identification test would be very effective. Uncovering whether Elaine’s fingerprint matches the ones found on the butte of the cigarette or on the spine of the wineglass could trace back to both females. Lastly, a typically footprint analysis can be done. It could hopefully tie the footprints found from the field back to the road that matched with the female size five shoe to one of the

Their sole piece of evidence was the identification given by the victim’s husband and a coerced confession that police wrote out themselves and beat Brenton into signing. With the research provided it is evident that eyewitness testimonies can be affected by many factors and it is not sufficient enough evidence to stand on its own. The police asked the victim to identify Brenton 2 hours after his wife had been shot which is hardly enough time for his shock of the situation to die down. Also, when they presented him Mr. Butler, they did not do so in the form of a lineup they presented him by himself in the area that the crime happened. The setting he was presented in, the time he was allowed to view Mr. Butler, the distance he viewed him and the traumatic state he was in, all led to his wrongful identification of Brenton Butler.…
