In-Person Interview Analysis

I conducted an in-person interview that took place in the home of the interviewee in Phoenix, Arizona. The interview was conducted on October 21st and lasted about 2 hours. I will be referring to my interviewee as “Dona” in order to protect her identity and keep her completely anonymous. For my interview I decided to take careful notes and directly transcribe the responses during the interview. As the interview began I noticed that “Dona” was responding with generic answers and gave minimal information. I decided to take a moment to reassure her that I was not looking for any specific answers, that I simply wanted to get to know her better. As you age your body is more susceptible to illness and being able to promote optimum health can help manage chronic illnesses that may possibly lead to death. There are things that one can do to help prevent certain illnesses such as taking a regular dose of vitamins and reducing the amount that you smoke or drink (Taylor, 2016c). Through making small lifestyle changes such as deciding to stop smoking she is improving her health and giving herself a chance to live longer. However, there are factors that one simply has no control over such as such as age, gender, ethnicity and body type (Taylor, 2016c). It is common for your bones to become thinner and weaker as you age as well as the fact that for “Dona” simply being a woman puts her at greater risk for health issues (Taylor, 2016c). “Dona” could have made more of a conscious effort to take care of her body through her diet, adding calcium to your diet helps build strong bones as well as taking vitamin D, which helps with the absorptions of calcium (Taylor, 2016c). With such a low maintained diet, she was simply not feeding her body the nutrients it needed which may have possibly increased her risk for chronic
