The salem witch trials was a perfect example of hysteria.(History.com) It all started when a young girl by the name of abigail began randomly accusing people of being witches and then there were many hangings thus resulting in hysteria.(History.com) Abigail shortly after flew the coupe so to speak and took a lot of money with her.(History.com) This is usually how hysteria is started and finished unfortunately.(History.com) It caused the death of many innocents just because everyone was to afraid to question authority …show more content…
He gave the angry people of germany someone to blame for their misfortunes. They saw what they believed was positive change and then blindly followed his command regardless of their ideals of morality. Once given the power to inflict pain or cause death at our very core we have such impulses and when given unbridled opportunity to act on such impulses we go mad with power.
As a species we are inherently evil. In situations of controversy we do what we have to for self preservation purposes. This is shown in situations such as the court in the crucible you tell people what they want and at the sacrifice of another’s life you keep your own. The same fear drove nazi soldiers in waves both to the slaughter and to their own deaths. We do things like this out of fear and call it hysteria to justify our own evils. Really their is no hysteria if you’re given the choice like the nazis and like abigail williams of your life or anothers... which would you chose, which would anyone
