Salem Village Description

“Don’t go too deep into the forest, Viola.” That’s what my father had always told me. All the adults in the village said the same thing, so it seemed like a platitude said to children who wanted to play in the forest. The wind blew, making my skirt and golden braids sway. Holding the hair out of my eyes, I looked up. Through gaps in the green branches above my head, I could just barely see the blue sky. It was a hot summer afternoon, and there I was, in the forest. There was a great forest near Salem Village, the town I lived in. The forest, which was bountiful year-round, was very useful for the villagers. It was a beautiful meadow with red bell-shaped flowers and blue flowers bloomed in a mixture. Although that wasn't what caught my eye, instead it was a girl who wore a flower crown on her pure white hair that matched the hue of her skin. From afar I could see that she was making another flower crown as she crawled towards the flowers and grabbed a handful of them. I felt my face form a frown. Ellen shouldn't have walked all the way out here, she might put more strain on herself more than usual. Black rubbed against my leg to snap me out of my stupor and trotted towards his owner. Hastingly I rushed after him and yelled out, "Hey, Ellen!" Her obsidian eyes seemed to widen in surprise at my sudden outburst but quickly turned into a smile as she replied, "Hey to you to Viola." As Black and I were a foot away from her I started to chastise her "Viola I told you to wait for me to help you. What if your condition started to get worse?" "You were taking to long," Ellen explained as Black curled into her lap "Besides I'm not so helpless that I'd need assistance every single day." I bit my lip. At times Ellen couldn't stop coughing and during one of those episodes she would sometimes hack up blood. Once it subsided she would always say she was fine but I never believed her. Since my mother died that way. It didn't help that her legs were crippled and Ellen had to have a stick at all times to get her from one place to the other. So of course I'd think that she'd need my assistance quotidianly. I felt guilty for not doing more for her since my chores always held me up back at the
