1.) Salami-Slicing Scenario
For section 1 I chose act utilitarian. I chose act utilitarian because its works it considers the value of the actions consequence. In this situation from an act utilitarian perspective it would be morally permissible to create and use this account skimming program, because an act utilitarian is primarily concerned about the value of the consequences of the actions they have committed and the people it benefits. For example they become wealthy off exploiting the glitch in the system and don’t get caught. The act utilitarian is not considering the consequences of the act its self. For example, if the creator and user of the program got caught, their ill-gotten gains would be confiscated and they would face harsh legal punishment. These reasons are why I feel like it would be ethically permissible because they’re really only concerned about the value of their actions and who it benefits. They are not concerned with the punishment aspect.
For section 2 I chose the Kantian perspective. According the Kantian perspective it is not ethically permissible to create and use the account skimming program. The Kantian perspective would tell us that is not ethical to use because it is stealing from a company, and there for …show more content…
I would argue that Kantian perspective is better than the act utilitarian. I think it is better because it considers the outcome of the action of making and using the skimming program. Unlike the act utilitarian that only really cares about the value that their action achieves, and not the consequences. The Kantian would try to do what’s in the best interest of everyone. The Act utilitarian would just be trying to take care of the best interest of those involved with the scam. Overall the Kantian perspective is
