The goal of the war was to take over Saipan and send B-29 Super fortress bombers to go bomb the home land of the Japanese. The battle lasted 15 June- 9 July 1944. The outcome was an American victory. Allies that died during the battle 3,426 killed and 10,364 wounded. Japanese 24,000 killed and 5,000 suicided and 921 prisoners.
