The Saint Louis Zoo The Saint Louis Zoo was voted second best zoo in the United States in a USA Today poll where they had the people who go to these zoos vote. The zoo is home to over 15,000 animals per their website. Many of them are rare and endangered species. They have some exhibits that they charge for but admission to the zoo is free. The Mission of the Saint Louis Zoo is to conserve animals and their habitats through animal management, research, recreation, and educational programs that encourage the support and enrich the experience of the public. This could be the mission of any zoo it is not what makes the zoo special. They try to grow the experience threw innovation and research. Luckily their website is a great place to start your trip. Plan your experience before you step in the zoo and determine is your experience going to be better walking around the park or talking the train to the different exhibits you want to visit. I would also recommend planning your budget for the trip before you get there. The facility is partnered with the state which allows them to offer free admission however they do customize a lot to entice you into spending your money in other places. They also have a lot of volunteers and you might want to consider the source if you must ask someone that works there any questions. A good rule of thumb is to ask the train drivers they are usually paid which means they might have been there longer or received better training then others in the facility. It is also a free experience which does place some restrictions on their level of service. You should plan your visit before attending to confirm you see all the sections you want it would be a hard to see every experience in the zoo in one trip which might be the best part. Always make sure you have enough adults because children are sneaky and while well maintained there are a lot of parts of the zoo that can be dangerous. If you are looking for a customized experience in one of Americas top zoos make sure to plan your trip to the zoo during summer they do have to shut down a lot of areas when it gets cold.
