Catholicism plays a major part in the Medieval period. During this time, Saint Francis had his conversion when he was inside a church. There the image of Jesus spoke to him. God asked him to restore his church, and this impacted the decision of leaving everything behind. Saint Francis was soon to inherit his father’s wealth. However, after his conversion Saint Francis refused to take on the family business. He had such a strong faith, that he did not worry about what people said about him. In the Catholic community, a pure heart is well seen. There are other saints who have lived a poor life, but Francis’ story is unique. He not only lived a poor life, but also helped the poor. Before denouncing his father 's economic life, Francis ‘stole’ money from his dad. He obviously did not do it in a stealing manner, rather he spent his allowances on the needs of the poor people. His father did not take it well, when he found out that the money he gave his son as an allowance, was wasted on ‘those poor people.’ Francis wanted to help those in need, and he did so by buying food, clothing, shelter, etc. After, Francis left his family he spent all his life helping the poor, and living among them.
