There are various examples of lines throughout Michaelangelo’s painting, that assist in interpreting the content of the painting. First, the vertical lines of the of the paintings allows the viewers to conceptualize the altitude in the air that saint anthony and the demons are in as they levitate into the sky. Additionally, there are countless diagonal lines throughout the painting. For instance, the limbs of the demons feature a myriad of diagonal lines, highlighting their aggressive actions against Saint Anthony.
Shape and Form: In terms of shapes, this painting utilizes organic shapes and form throughout the scene. The first shape I noted was a circle that surrounded the perimeter of demons surrounding Saint Anthony. Furthermore, the circle signifies the focal point of the painting is Saint Anthony, since he is right in the center of the picture. The color value in the painting infers that the sun is providing the illumination displayed throughout the photo. However, in the overlapping rocks on the bottom left corner, the artist utilizes darker colors on the rocks in the back to create a three dimensional depiction of the photo. The intensity of the colors displayed on the painting could also infer towards more information of the content of the painting.
