Did you know that Saint Anthony of Padua once preached to fish because the people in his town wouldn't listen to him? Saint Anthony’s feast day is June 13, he also died on that day.Anthony has performed over 55 miracles, but only one of them has been during his life. One miracle that he performed after he died is in 1263 is dead body was moved to a church in Padua, and when the vault door was opened his whole entire body has disintegrated all except for his tongue.("Saint Anthony's Miracles. A Dead Man Speaks.") Saint Anthony is the patron saint of many things such as: lost items, animals, against shipwreck, and many more.

I chose Saint Anthony for my confirmation saint because whenever I lose something immediately pray to him. Another reason is that Anthony is my father's middle name. I have been praying to Saint Anthony for as long as I could remember, not just for myself but for others. Anthony was rebulius especially when his dad wanted him to be a nobels man, but he heard God’s calling so he didn't follow his dad, instead he followed God.("Saint Anthony's Miracles. A Dead Man Speaks.") One more reason I chose Saint Anthony is because he could speak in front of any amount of people without feeling nervous. ("Anthony of Padua Facts.") I need some help sometimes getting over my fears.

Anthony has many qualities that I find interesting in him, such as how he could speak in many languages. He could gather crowds anywhere he went and not be afraid to talk to them. He had a great desire to make people christians, he traveled through Italy preaching and getting people to be baptized in the Father. I find these interesting because he was not afraid of the crowds he gathered. He wanted people to know the loving gift of grace that God gave to him so he got people baptized. He spoke in many languages, not to please himself but to make others happy when they learn how God can help them.("15 Characteristics of St. Anthony of Padua – A Model for the 21st

Athanasius wrote Life of St. Antony to advocate to monks that the proper way to live a holy life is through imitation. He was tasked with writing to the monks about St. Antony, and while he has a multitude of things to say about Antony, he chose to fixate on Antony’s imitation of scripture and other holy men. Athanasius tells the monks to “guide yourselves by imitations of him,” referring to Antony, and the irony is that Antony became a saint through imitation of others (28). He is showing the monks that imitation is the best way by recounting the times that Antony used imitation to overcome the evils of the world.…

I chose Saint Anthony of Padua as my patron saint for numerous reasons. St. Anthony is most known for being the patron saint of lost items, and he even has his own little jingle: “Saint Anthony, Saint Anthony, please come around, something is lost and can’t be found.” Although he grew up wealthy, St. Anthony chose to be a servant of God. I hope that, no matter what happens in my life, I will do the same. St. Anthony has always been one of my favorite saints.…
