Saigon Pete's Case

Improved Essays
Against what I previously stated, I decided to not change any facts of the assignments and simply write off of what was given; however, I did add that the idea for adding trucks had been brought up before, but we never had an official meeting about the idea. I should also add that I will be referring to the city that Saigon Pete’s operates in as “Tidewater”. Then in third e-mail in the positive & negative messages, “Cathy” will be the name of our account rep. at the vendor’s office. I liked having a name better than being vague. Lastly, I would like to add that my hashtags for twitter and Instagram are a sample. It is important to use as many hashtags as possible on these sites to generate more views; however, I felt too many would be clunky …show more content…
This could mean a possible promotion for me, while also making a suggestion that could make/break Saigon Pete’s. The first piece I wanted to look at was exactly who was I writing to, what about and what they would desire to see. Based on the situation, I would be communicating this information to the Owner, Pete Pham, while the “about what” was mentioned above. Due to the fact Pete bears the most risk from this operation, it is important to layout precise information. His livelihood is on the line, so there is zero room for opinions and will be focusing on using concrete numbers. I want him to know why he needs to make this decision when he finishes reading, and not give him any doubt. I also want to focus on two distinct pieces while pitching new trucks: national and local trends. The national trends reel him in and show him the growth and potential additional trucks can bring, while the local trends seal the deal by showing him why Tidewater is the perfect city to focus the operation. I will also be careful not to overstep my boundaries with my tone. It is Pete’s business, and do not want to make the decision for him or seem demeaning if he chose to go another route. The goal is to walk him to the solution so he can see it for

In Catch 22 and in Good Morning Vietnam, the experience that those in the war zone went through, in World War II and in the Vietnam war, is discussed. Both the book and movie try to put a comical spin on war and does not the disturbing facts of war but instead use comedy to entertain the audience. The main character in both are a character who goes against the norm during the war and are not viewed with respect due to this. The Vietnam War was one of the bloodiest wars in American history resulting in the death of nearly sixty thousand American troops even though most citizens back home opposed our involvement in the war. This wasn’t always the case though, when the United States joined the war effort in 1965 most Americans supported the decision whole heartedly. Our reason for joining was to stop the spread of communism but as the war went on it seemed like this reason wasn’t good enough for many American citizens. Some reasons the American public felt this way are as follows; corruption of many high ranking government leaders, the opposing Vietcong troops were using primitive dishonorable tactics to gain an advantage over the anti communist forces and the death…

Communism is one word that the Americans never wanted to hear. Communism is a society where land and the means of production are collectively owned. Communism is a place where not one person had ownership of their things, everything was shared. The Americans believed in the domino theory and, if the United States of America did not stop the spread of communism, every country that bordered a communist country, would eventually become a communist county. This is one reason why the United States sent thousands of military advisors to Vietnam in 1964.…

A sincere group of brothers, the Charlie Company was one of the latest combat infantry companies in the Vietnam War to be recruited, trained and sent to fight all together. The Vietnam conflict was a war whose backgrounds many did not understand and that resulted in the people questioning the guidelines of a government they had always depended on on. During the war in Vietnam, soldiers faced severe life-threatening situations, including fatigue, starvation, disease, and of course, having to see fellow friends and soldiers pass away. What made the 9th Division distinctive was that it was built from scratch in 1966 and for that reason had, at least at the beginning, men from all over the world. John Young just wanted to exploit and enlist in the army…

Placing the movie into a historical context, the movie begins in a post-World War II era, beginning in the state of Alabama during the 1950s, and eventually includes the locations of Savannah, Georgia, Washington, D.C., Vietnam, and China. The movie places a heavy emphasis on the representation of the racial discourse that was apparent into the 1960s, with several references throughout scenes in the movie. The hippie and Free Love movement is also included, along with the involvement of the war in Vietnam, the escalation, and the anti-war protests that soon followed. Several scenes…
