Sagmeister & Walsh not only come up with some of the most innovative graphic design but they are also one of the top design firms around today. Throughout this essay I plan to explore how they got to be where they are and how their work is so different to that of other graphic designers. Also talk about the various ways they use their graphic skills and comparing their work with that of Josef Müller-Brockmann on how they are similar in some aspects but what gives Sagmeister that edge.

Science fiction as a genre has often had its stories steeped in allegory and metaphor. From the 1960s Star Trek to James Cameron’s Avatar, sci-fi narratives seeking to impart a greater meaning to their audience have been met with wild success, despite varying degrees of subtlety. In his novel Embassytown, author China Miéville takes this tradition and puts it to the side in lieu of running with it. While a few of his highly acclaimed novels bear the marks of his politics, in the case of Embassytown I would agree with his statement…

I was drawn to this painting due to its simplistic design and vibrant colors that forces the viewer to keep looking. The painting attracted my attention and every time I looked at it, I felt as if I found something new about it every time. As I continued to examine the painting its complexity continued to grow with every minute that I looked at it. Also, the size of the painting was large compared to the others in the gallery immediately making me feel that the painting had more significance and prestige than the others around it. The combination of the designs, the color and the size, overall made this painting an obvious choice for my research paper.…
