New technologies and materials have appeared with the development of the industrial and post-industrial society that make human life more convenient, without them it is impossible to imagine the life of the modern person. However, it is still difficult to answer the question whether all technology is safe for humanity? One of the most urgent and discussed issues is the problem of cancer caused by cell phones. Scientists from all over the world are trying to find the answer to this question by doing various researches in physics field. Medicine in their turn is also trying to determine the cause of the tumors and find a relationship with mobile phones. The amount of cell phones calls and time that people spend using their devices has dramatically …show more content…
A cell phone emits RF energy that is a form of electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation can be harmful for a human body and destroy chemical bonds in DNA, for example, x-rays, gamma rays and ultraviolet radiation. However, the radiation from mobiles refers to non-ionized radiation and characterized by low frequency, and therefore low energy, which is not enough for damaging cells in human body ("Cell Phones and Cancer Risk"). People are worried about radiation, because they use phones close to their body, and during a call, they hold it near their head. The most considerable energy level in cellular phones is radiated through the antenna. The antenna installed in the body of a hand-held phone, but the antenna lose energy very quickly, and it is located far from the speaker. Studies have found that only one effect appears when talking on a wireless phones, the area of the body is heated under the influence of radio waves, like in a microwave oven ("Cellular Phones”). Nevertheless, this heat does not cause serious harm to human thermoregulation, and especially cannot be considered as a serious cause of cancer. Nowadays, cell phones include a receiver of Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi technology also works with emission of high-frequency electromagnetic radiation 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, but the power of the system is very low. According to the data of …show more content…
Physical experiments did not show any results about bad impact on human body of RF waves from the antenna of wireless phones. Medicine also has held large-scale and long-term studies to identify the correlation between mobile phones and patients with tumors, but has not found clear evidence. Various health organizations are involved in public protection and safety expressed their opinion without confirming the dangers of mobile phones. International Agency for Research on Cancer is still concerned about the problem and takes into account the possibility of danger, however, has no any the reasonable proof of the wireless phones ' influence on the human body. By and large, WHO hesitates to eliminate this problem from the group of possible carcinogenic, therefore it state on needed new methods and a longer study. Some scientists and journalists offer secure itself proposing to use hands free headsets and reduce the time and the number of calls, but it looks like an unjustified panic due to the lack of actual evidence of harm. Perhaps after a few decades and new research in the field will be enough for World Health Organization to recognize the safety of cell phones and confirm it as a
