Safety is a critical core value that bestows a sense of confidence and caring in those who are a part of the safety culture when it is actively practiced (Hill et al., 2012). A safety culture is the reflection of an organization’s attitudes, actions and behaviors of its concern for safety. Students are the heart of the safety culture in Institutions of Higher Education. Colleges and universities develop policies and procedures that clearly define their ideal safety culture. They have the responsibility of providing a safe and healthy environment for faculty staff and students.
