Saferides-Personal Narrative Analysis

Decent Essays
Every city has its dark history. Some have racial tension, others family feuds. Mine has a drinking problem. A teenage drinking problem. In the middle of town is a park, and in that park is a grove of 102 tree stumps. One for each youth that has died in a drug related traffic accident. It seems that every year more are added. This turned into a reality for me when five of my friends were almost added. Everyone knew things like this happened, but it is another level of devastation when it is so personal. I felt so powerless just waiting to see if they would pull through. I did not want myself or anyone else to be put into this position ever again. I had to act so I joined Saferides. Saferides is a local organization sponsored by the Boy Scouts

The past two weeks I have worked at northshore maternity and national womens community midwives. During my week at northshore it was incredibly busy and understaffed. I also remember thinking at times, where has the midwifery gone? We were so busy rushing around trying to provide safe and quality care to the women, but that fact is I feel we were too busy, with too larger case loads to provide true midwifery care. I cared for many day 1-2 sections, women with large blood losses requiring blood transfusions, a secondary PP and there was a woman with confirmed H1N1 on the ward who was unstable – but HDU wouldn’t allow her to be transferred around, and many other complex situations that really challenged my competence, knowledge and practice reasoning.…

Sometimes A failure isn’t a failure at all it’s just a minor setback. I learned this at the beginning of my 10th grade year. My teacher had told my classmates and I that we were able to be dual enrollment students at Germanna Community College. She informed us that we would have to take an entrance exam to be placed in classes that were suitable for us. When she said this we told her that we’d be ready and that we’d pass with no problems.…

All that we heard from behind us was the constant boom of the shotguns being fired. I could feel the burning in my lungs of the frigid winter air as me and my friend, Jeremy, were running to the car in the black of night. As we made it to the car I glanced around, like a prairie dog, making sure that nothing was out of the order around us. I quickly noticed that nothing was around us and proceeded to enter the car. Upon entering the car I jammed the key into the ignition and smashed the key into the running position and quickly cranked the heat all the way up.…

I'm writing in this journal in hopes that one day some child will read this and know about and understand the true horrors of war, and all that i've gone through, I made a mistake signing up for the military, trust me, I wish I could go back and stop myself for enrolling in the imperial Japanese army, all the stuff I've witnessed. I still have nightmares about my time in the military, and I've been out of service for a year now exactly, and I had to do things no man would ever do but, in my few years of service there's one thing that bothers me about the military, they ordered the Ueno zoo, to kill all of their animals for no reason, and I bet you're wondering ‘hey this man has killed people and blown their heads off before, why is he guilty…

The sun is bearing down on me and my lungs hurt from taking in so much oxygen. My legs are about to give out, but the yellow finish line is only a couple of feet away. My rival runs with the same amount of force, not giving me even the slightest chance of hesitation. I have to beat him and that has been my goal for many years. I ignore the exhaustion, the weight of moving my body, and the pain in my feet; I sprint and finally, I feel the line press against my stomach and then the loosening of it as I passed it first.…

I remember a time when I was younger; I would ride along with my dad in his 2000 mustang. I would love every second I was inside of it. One day, I vowed that I would get a mustang just like his when I got my driver’s license and this was a lifelong goal of mine. Now, my goals are a little more thought out and somewhat goofy. My goals now are to play a show in a band, to visit most of the museums in the U.S., and to travel to Europe and some of the U.K.…

No matter what type of person someone may be, they’ve done something that they’ve regretted immediately or in the long run. Most likely, that repent would have never existed if that person had thought twice before acting. An experience which made me realize that thinking things through was a good habit to have was with my first pet, a goldfish. When I was about six or seven years old, my parents had gotten a fish tank from their friends, since they were moving back to India and couldn’t bring a tank on the plane. Inside was a medium-sized goldfish which I decided to name Goldie due to her obvious yellow-orange color and my creativity.…
