Child protection/ Safeguarding policy of my setting states how to respond to allegations or suspicions of harm/abuse made by the child or young person. Every staff member is introduced and trained to understand the settings Policy and procedures. As it is very important that all the staff members are aware of appropriate response to the disclosure of harm, abuse by the child otherwise it can damage the situation, confidence of the discloser in school and may result in failure to act quickly.

Task 15. Explain the rights that children, young people and their carers have in situations where harm or abuse is suspected or alleged.
When the child suffers from any form of maltreatment he/she is in the state of shock and very scared. If the responsible adult notices the signs of abuse or harm in the child, then the adult must reassure the child and talk to them very calmly. For parents/carer is it similar experience of shock to hear about what their child has been through. In such situation all possible support must be given to the child and his/her parent/carer to deal with the aftermath of harm/abuse.
The children have rights
• To be heard and taken seriously.
• Their age and understanding should be taken into consideration.
• They should be involved in all matters and decision making process which may affect their lives.
• When there are safeguarding concerns they should get opportunity to express themselves independently of their parents/cares.
