There's just something about being able to feel like you've conquered gravity that will always attract children and adults to the side of a trampoline. The unique rebounding action of this simple machine has been a source of exercise and entertainment to the young and the young at heart for over eighty years!

If you're thinking about purchasing a trampoline, you might be tempted to drive right over to your local discount store and buy the cheapest one you can find; after all, it's only a toy, right? While it might be tempting to save money on the purchase, cheap trampolines parts are often the ones that malfunction, risking injury. Here are some tips for choosing a safe trampoline.

A basic trampoline kit includes many of the same trampoline parts that were used in the first trampolines, constructed way back in the 1940's. This means a metal frame (which is now made from heavy duty steel instead of iron), metal springs, and a trampoline mat, usually made from some synthetic fabric. A traditional round trampoline is simply the jumping platform, and nothing else. No ladder, nothing to keep little heads from knocking against the metal railing if they lose their footing, and nothing to keep little bodies from flying over the side if they miscalculate a jump.
