The 2011 anti-bullying policy, the Matt Epling Safe School Law, required that every school district develop a policy to address bullying within the school. The law states that schools must ensure bullying is prohibited and have safeguards in place to protect against false reports, as well as the person doing the reporting. The policy must also have appropriate people identified to implement and monitor the procedures, as well as investigate and report (Matt Epling Safe School Law, 2011/2014). The law has very little reach beyond requiring a written policy. There is no requirement in the law for implementation of the policy or the extent to which the policy must be implemented.…

Lastly, the school needs to keep assessing the plan to make sure the plan will continue to be successful. If the schools were to install the SARA program it would help them because instead of just punishing something a student did and then continuing on, the school can actually find out how to prevent the crime. By installing this program the teachers and schools would be making sure the students continued to learn not only from their classes but also from their mistakes. Also by installing the SARA program the school would help to ensure the safety of the other students who are affected by the actions of other students. This is why by installing these problem solving programs helps the schools to ensure student safety.…

The use of security guards and police officers has been cited as “among the most common physical surveillance measures currently used in schools” (Juvonen, pp.2-3, 2006). The responsibilities of the school resource officer (SRO) typically ranges from assisting administrators with student discipline issues to actively patrolling the school grounds (Hanover Research, 2013).
