Thoughts and Beliefs

It is believed that this organization isn’t just about getting people through the “next phase” in life, but changing their life for the better.

The links to these profiles are located on the bottom right of Safe Families’ website and if you were to click on them, they all seem like they are updated frequently. It seems to be that social media plays a big role in Safe Families, but there are also sections on the website that lets folks donate money to the organization. The link is at the top of the website on the home page and is labeled “Donate Now” with a heart. People who chose to donate money to Safe Families are able to select the location that they would like to donate to. While it was difficult to find the exact number, Safe Families has over 30 locations. Most are in the United States, while one is even located in Kenya, making Safe Families nationwide/international. A couple other media vehicles that Safe Families could benefit from would be television and radio advertisements. Almost everybody watches T.V. now and it seems that people could be addicted to it. After a show is running for a certain amount of time there will be a commercial break. Most people would fast forward through these if they could, but what if they saw an advertisement in which they could benefit from? Now, almost everyone has seen those sad dog commercials when they ask for donations. Actually, I try not to cry every time I watch them. With that being said, Safe Families could come up with a way to make a commercial about the organization. …show more content…
The first is Facebook, a social media that has millions of members. As for Safe Families, the organization has over 6,000 followers on Facebook. This means that people who search Safe Families and see their Facebook page will click the “Follow” button located under the cover photo, and that those 6,000 people will be notified with any activity that goes on. For example, if Safe Families were to post something as their status, those 6,000 people will be notified. This is great because Safe Families can use this to spread the word about their organization. This type of social media is known as earned media, which is defined in our textbook as “incremental exposure that your brand earns through viral engagement and interactions with the brand. For instance, Facebook likes, check-ins, or shares are earned media”(O’Guinn, Allen, Semenik, & Close,

When officers arrived at the home, the children were in the road and their mother was inside the home; Mrs. Carraway was unaware the children had left the home. Mrs. Carraway told the reporter the children were not in the road, but were in woods that surround both sides of the home. Officers also presented concerns for the condition of the home. The home was described as extremely dirty with clothes and trash everywhere for this reason a DHS intervention has been requested by the officers.…

Richard Gelles expresses his concern with the failings of the child welfare system and proposes four key solutions to the issues at hand. First he proposes an elimination of the mandated reporting required for professionals that work with children. He suggests that they should not be required to report abuse because the mandatory reporting of child abuse has flooded the system deeming it ineffective. I can agree that the surge of reports can cause a clog in the system if many are false or insignificant. I also think that Gelles has the right idea in advising the definition of child abuse be modified to be less general in hopes that the system can focus on more severe maltreatment cases.…

Maltreated children are at risk for significant psychological and physical health symptoms. These include anxiety, depression, suicide, impulsivity, hyperactivity, interpersonal problems, hyper arousal, and dissociation (Lawson, 2009). Unfortunately, many families with children who face challenges such as child maltreatment have been investigated by the local Department of Social Services for incidents which may be minor or severe. Families in Maryland who experience child maltreatment such as leaving a child unattended, lack of food supply, and poor parental support have an option called Alternative Response (AR). The Department of Human Resources collaborated with stakeholders, advocates, experts, community service providers, and local social services department offices known as the Alternative Response Advisory Council to create Maryland's AR program (Rock, 2014).…

On account of the focus of this paper is on the policy, Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003, I would like to go into further details, by analyzing the policy with the help of Karger & Stoesz’s policy analysis model. Karger & Stoesz policy analysis model is set up in four stages that brings emphasis on the individuals it advocates for and its reasons for doing so, individuals who are taking part in the policy and their actions, the amount of work being done in relation to the policy, and the concerns of individuals in government system that may be in favor or oppose the stated policy. Karger & Stoesz’s policy analysis model is based on the goals and values, economic feasibility, administrative feasibility, and political feasibility that focus on the Keeping Children and Families Safe Act of 2003 policy. As all individuals, communities, and organizations have their own goals…

Although Disney is a multi-billion dollar company with funds to support this non-profit organization, donations are also accepted, and sponsors are sought out in conferences for support. Alternatively, attention should be held for the children and families, since they are the ones most affected, and influenced from the social media interactions. The main metric for social media interactions as laid out by Petri Darby, APR, the director of brand marketing & digital strategy for the Make-A-Wish Foundation are, donations, volunteers and wish referrals. (Darby, 2015) In order to achieve these metrics through social media outlets, the company must increase likes, followers, reviews, connections, posts, subscribers, and video views over the social media forums mentioned earlier in Current Social Media and Mobile Technologies. These details will be further laid out under the category Channel Assessment and Strategy.…

Anytown’s Department of Job and Family Services recently implements a new policy regarding child endangerment. To most people you would think for anyone to be charged with child endangerment, it had to be a very serious matter. What most people don’t realize is child endangerment could be simply leaving your child unattended. Nevertheless, child endangerment occurs when a person engages in conduct that places a child in imminent danger of death, bodily injury, or physical or mental impairment. I believe if a household has one or more documented offense that could put the child in a compromising position.…
