Politics are a very turbulent issue for many people across the world. The single greatest issue caused by politicians is when they break their promises to the people they govern and therefore incite dissention within their constituency. Among those most infamous politicians guilty of this crime are names like Niccolo Machiavelli, Adolf Hitler, and Saddam Hussein. Throughout history, leaders such as these have lied and manipulated other to achieve their own ends. These men lived by creeds that allowed them to believe that they were perfectly justified in misleading the people they lead.
I fear what will happen to this country after the 2017 elections for president are to come. I see no great candidates.
The most recent of these leaders, Saddam Hussein, was quoted saying, “Politics is when you say you are going to do one thing while intending to do another.” This quote has a deep and powerful meaning. However, one should have a working knowledge on politics before one can fully understand the quote. Because most teenagers have yet to learn politics, many of them do not even know what politics is. This quote is a reflection of Saddam’s political policy in the sense that he led the world and his allies to believe that he was fighting to end the spread of Islamic radicalism with his war in Iraq when he was truly fighting to discourage an uprising of the Shi-ite Muslims. Former Iraqi president, Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr, was stealthily overthrown by his former deputy Saddam Hussein. Later Saddam invaded Kuwait under the guise of reclaiming ancient territory. These are all examples of when Saddam Hussein told the world one thing while his intent was to do something
