Sacrococcygeal teratoma is a tumor that can arise during weeks 5-8 of pregnancy. ST is derived from pluripotent cells of the primitive streak and often contains various types of tissue (e.g., bone, nerve, and hair). STs appear as benign tumors, but if left unchecked, these tumors can develop into large blood vessels, which creates extra work for the body to deliver blood to the location of these tumors.
