When you are in a desperate situation or when times are tough this is proven to be true in the story of the Life of Pi. It was shown when Pi was stuck in the sea with a Bengal tiger. He was hungry but the tiger was guarding the entrance to the food locker. Because hunger overcame his fear he charged the tiger bringing it to the side of the boat with open space.
