Okonkwo is very prideful and he cares what his peers think of him, why he so willingly killed Ikemefuna although he cared for him as his own son. This may be a sacrifice on the part of selfishness or on the part of tradition and honor of the gods. Either way the impact is still significant in this book having to deal with the slaughter of an innocent child. The way people view sacrifice may not afterall be the same as google defined it. It is important to note that the way in which Okonkwo and many others in his culture have different values that would be absurdly different than values in western culture. I feel that if there was ever a situation in which dying would be the best choice for others, we would know it deep inside. There does indeed need to be a lot at stake in order for a sacrifice to be right. Life is not worth sacrificing if it does not accomplish something for the greater good of others or…

I think that Okonkwo did not act is the best way during this scene. He let his ego and belief of masculinity overpower the moral decision in the scene with Ikemefuna. A better decision would have been to not be involved in the death seeing that the oracle didn’t even make him be a part of Ikemefuna ’s fate. But due to the need to prove his masculinity and power to not only the people but himself as well.…

In my interviews with Abbot Brian, my aunt Vera Fernandes, and my best friend Ranvir Bhatia, I learned key information about how to seamlessly integrate service into my own life. Even though people like my friend Ranvir are not Catholic, there is still a place for service in everyone’s life and I learned a lot of things from his Hindu perspective on service that I can incorporate to be an even better Catholic. Ultimately, the experience was truly special and I know is something I will carry on for the rest of my life.…

Kill em with Kindness “If you don’t sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes a sacrifice.” (Unknown) Sacrifice was not a strange action to the characters of Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This novel emphasized the sacrifices each individual made for their own future as well as the future of the country. While Eponine had some of the most selfless actions in the movie, it can easily overshadow the sacrifices of other characters. Beyond Eponine, there were characters such as Jean Valjean and Fantine who lived selflessly, Javert who gave everything up, and Marius who learned the true meaning of sacrifice.…

Sacrifice; noun; an act of slaughtering an animal or person or surrendering a possession as an offering to God or to a divine or supernatural figure. While this is the official definition of sacrifice, it is not how most of us know the word “sacrifice” today. These days, sacrifice is made on a much smaller scale, such as sacrificing time to help a sibling with their homework, or sacrificing money to buy someone a gift. However, sacrifice can be so much more than that.
