Sacrifice In The Outsiders

Improved Essays
The Outsiders is a classic novel based on a gang of teenage boys who rely on each other. It is very famous worldwide and sells more than 500,000 copies a year. Most of the people in this book such as Dally, Darry, Ponyboy, and Sodapop are heroic characters. I define hero as someone who is willing to sacrifice, has courage, and is caring. Johnny Cade is the perfect fit for this definition.
The author clearly depicts Johnny as someone willing to sacrifice. There were kids stuck in the burning building who were saved by Pony and Johnny. Ponyboy narrated, “we dropped the last of the kids out as the burning building started to crumble” (Hinton 93). Pony and Johnny had just finished taking the kids out of the burning church. Johnny saved the lives

In books, on TV, and generally anywhere else, honor is depicted as the protagonist always making the moral decision without a second thought.
