Sacrifices made in Macbeth and The Social Network Sacrifice is an act of giving up something valuable that you want to keep especially in order to get or to do something else to benefit yourself (Dictionary). In the book Macbeth authored by William Shakespeare and the move The Social Network directed by David Fincher both Macbeth and Mark Zuckerberg respectively make sacrifices in order to obtain their various goals. Best friends were used as a coy to help Macbeth and Mark in obtaining various goals. In Macbeth, Banquo was murdered by people that Macbeth had hired.
Macbeth had believed if Banquo was still alive he would not achieve the prophecy that the three Witches had predicted for him and planned to manslaughter his best friend.

Erica was telling Mark how much of an “asshole” he is because of how much he believes that he is better than anyone else and how much “smarter” he is than girls in general. She confirms with him that girls do not dislike him because he is a nerd but they hate him for being an asshole.
Mark and Macbeth both destroyed their reputations due to the fact that they are “tyrants” and “assholes” who cannot be trusted. This shows that they sacrificed their reputations for their own greed and to achieve their goals.
Mark and Macbeth sacrificed their life for the well being of being able to reach their goals.
Macbeth had sacrificed his life that at the end he lost his kingdom, kinsmen, reputation, his wife and even his own life. He believed that he will only be able to reach his goal if he sacrificed his life however in the end he lost everything.
