This was a group who were German and denounced the Nazi’s and there actions toward the Jews. Many of the members of the White Rose had heard about the mass murder of Poland and disagreed with it. Hans Scholl was a soldier and saw the mistreatment of the Jews in forced labor camps and also he heard of all the Polish jews who were being sent to concentration camps. The members of the White Rose made leaflets that talked bad about the Nazi Regime. They said things like “we will not be silent”, “ We are your bad conscience”, The White Rose will not leave your peace”,There goal was “ a renewal from within of the severely wounded German spirit”, the reason to do this was because they knew they couldn’t defeat the Nazi’s without military force, they just had to convince people in Germany that the Nazi’s were bad. In class we discussed Kristallnacht and the events that led to these actions. This was the first event in Germany where they physically and violently hurt and arrested many Jewish people. The reason this goes into conformity because it was not even the Nazi’s who commited these crimes it was the ordinary German citizens. This shows that conformity drives our choices of universe of obligation because the citizens were told to do this actions through the Nazi’s and Propaganda since they thought these actions would benefit Germany they all conformed and attacked the Jewish people.
