On Wednesday, March 7th, I took place in an interview with the Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office. There were three interviewers that conducted this interview, over Facetime, this afternoon at 3:39 pm, which were Debra, Steve and Peter. Debra then asked for me to describe their mission statement, which I did to the best of my abilities. After this initial question, Debra asked if I remembered the lead public defender on the site, when I replied no she asked me to describe him. My description of the man included his physical features, such as his age, hair color, facial hair and glasses. From there, Steve went on to ask several interview questions. Initially he asked if I had a driver’s license, which I replied yes to. He then went on to ask about my driving record and I admitted that although I do not have any speeding tickets, I did receive a ticket about two years ago for going over double yellow lines. I went on to explain that this situation was handled when I paid the ticket and attended driving school. As a follow up question, Steve asked if I had any family members that I had been arrested and I responded that to the best of my knowledge none had been arrested. Steve then went on to have me explain situations in which a failure or conflict arose. In response, I used two work examples. To illustrate the failure situation, I used an example of children from work that I teach lessons

Saperstein and Penner’s article, “Racial Fluidity and Inequality in the United States,” highlights the processes that make race a product of expectations, versus an unchangeable essential constant, how it was perceived as for so long in history. Race, they argue, is defined by expectations in which people are judged in everyday interactions. Because of these these expectations (“stereotypes”) of how people should act, which is especially dependent on their fluctuating social status, black stigmatization and white privilege are able to survive and flourish. In their research they discovered that people tended to be classified (and identify themselves) as “more white” or “more black” based on the fluctuating positive and negative attributes to…

First and foremost, the whole experience is one that I could never forget. I realized that a criminal trail and a pretrial deferred greatly from all the arraignments that I have ever been to. An arraignment in the United States is the formal reading or presentation of charges against an individual as well as the stage where an individual enters a plea of guilty or not guilty.
