Sacrament Of Confirmation Paper

As I first began volunteering and focused on the task of cleaning up, I worked a pasta dinner where I was able to realize how Confirmation fit into my work. I was able to be lucky enough to work along side one of my friends and with the people of her parish to make the pasta dinner possible. This pasta dinner was the biggest fundraiser of the year and demanded us to be dedicated enough to the service. Throughout the night I went around serving and cleaning up meals. We ended up running out of pasta and supported one another throughout the night to keep going, even as people grew impatient. Us volunteers not only comforted one another, but the people at the pasta dinner so that there would not be an upset. The Catechism teaches that one of the effects of confirmation is that “it gives us a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ (CCC 1303). This effect of a “special strength” causes a bond of trust to form, similar to what I experienced the night of the pasta dinner. We gained …show more content…
I was lucky enough to participate in keeping my city clean by removing graffiti from city property and picking up cigarette butts from the sidewalks. My friend Mia and I spent a great deal of time trying our hardest to remove graffiti from a dumpster when a man approached her and told us that we would not be able to remove the graffiti and that we should give up. This hurt a little since we were spending a lot of time attempting to remove the graffiti and the word was barely fading, but this did not stop us. We persevered and ended up fading the paint enough so that it was not as noticeable as when we started and then moved on to removing more graffiti. It reminded me of how through confirmation we are strengthening our faith and given the wisdom to practice our faith more religiously/

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

I tend to think of this point as the most important point. Standing and serving those in need doesn't have to just be the poor, it could be a friend who was being bullied, or someone who simply needed help with homework. As Catholics, we stand by people who need assistance rather than running away and ignoring them. This summer, I worked at the Center for Food Action, which is a food bank in north Jersey. Helping out and delivering the canned good and donations to the needy was such an amazing experience.…

I have had various experiences in the last two years, but the one I feel is the most significant is the time I spent volunteering for the Detroit Mission Trip. This opportunity presented itself in June of 2014 through my church, Metro South Church. I spent one week, Monday through Friday, each day-all day, commuting from my home in Brownstown to the inner city of Detroit. Each day of this mission trip consisted of various volunteer jobs. I was one of approximately 100 people that engaged in the process of making life better for others.…

There is no surprise that Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness inhabit the same month. Well, at least not for me and I believe, not for many. The overall premise of Wheeler and Whaley’s The Great Commission to Worship is that worship and evangelism are not to be isolated from each other. Worship and evangelism go together and they impact how the believer is to live out the commandment of the Great Commission. Wheeler and Whaley make the assertion that evangelism and worship have been misunderstood, misinterpreted, and misapplied, and offer suggestions to fix this problem. The ultimate purpose of the Christian, according to Wheeler and Whaley, is to glorify God in all that he or she does.…

In my life at this moment there are a lot of things that I need to have faith with such as to who I should date and marry, what major I should have and whether or not I should continue to go to school here at BYU-Idaho. I feel like that I should make a plan and stick to it because if it is a bad plan then the Lord will let me know if it will hurt me. Sometimes we need to be doing or going towards a goal before the Lord will let us know if we are on the right path. The main change that I thought of is to stick to a plan and unless acted upon to keep to that plan and have faith that everything will work out.…
