1. According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the simple literal definition of leadership is: a position as a leader of a group, organization, etc.; the time when a person holds the position of leader; and/or the power or ability to lead other people. Leadership may also be defined by more profound descriptions by business professionals, politicians, coaches, military leaders, etc. Tom Landry, former coach of the Dallas Cowboys, defined leadership as, “the ability to get people to do what they don’t want to do to achieve what they want to achieve”. The lowest score I received during the LPI 360 survey regarded my ability/willingness to ask for feedback on my performance on how my actions affect other people’s performance. This directly relates to the CG leadership performance competencies of customer focus and performance appraisal. After self-reflection this may be attributed to my high demand for success and perfection. Relaxing my search for perfection in others should allow others to feel more at ease when mistakes are made. In addition, I will revamp and begin anew, ways to receive feedback from supervisors, co-workers and subordinates. Effective leadership demands constant evaluation as each situation requires different leadership tactics. Vince Lombardi once stated, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence”. He also said, “Leaders aren’t born, they are made. And just like anything else, through hard work. And that’s the price we’ll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any other goal”. These words from Coach Lombardi reaffirm the need to constantly work at the craft of leadership. Leadership needs to morph and change to adjust to each situation and each personal interaction, but there are some constants of leader characteristics that must be held in any situation. IAW reference (a), good leadership develops through a never-ending process of self-study, education, training, experience, observation, and emulation. Combining natural or learned leadership traits with continual development of skills while applying those to our Core Values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty; anyone may achieve success as a leader and create their individual leadership

My definition of leadership is very simple: leadership is having the ability to mobilize and empower a group towards a common goal. I find that with a much general definition of leadership as a base, it allows for different styles and theories to come from it. My preferred leadership style, for example, is the servant leadership model. The servant leadership model was formalized by Robert K. Greenleaf. My leadership model, as similar as it may be to that of Greenleaf's, came from home.…

The meaning of leadership is being a leader to others whether that be a group, an organization, or to younger/older kids. I have demonstrated leadership in several different ways. One way is through my school. By showing leadership, I do what is expected of me from showing others how something is done when it’s either on the court, in the classroom, in the hallways, or downtown. Without key qualities of leadership, an individual cannot fully provide their customers or its employees with the experiences they deserve. Without proper skills and reinforcement, leaders cannot foster a positive workforce or support their employees. Introduction “Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” — Vince Lombardi As I reflect on my leadership journey, I become more convinced with Vince that leaders are not born leaders, but are a result of a conscious effort to be one. While serving in various institutions in leadership positions, I have seen myself emerge to those positions through my hard work and skills rather than just having been assigned to it. Various factors like experience, training, mentorship, conscious practice and even failure have contributed in developing my leadership abilities.…
