In this assignment, I am going to show how important conducting a Swot analysis is in helping a (bmw group company, n.d.) company to succeed, and to stay a step ahead of its competitors. I am going to use the car company BMW for this purpose. Managers in business have been striving to increase their organisations performance by implementing operational and process improvements for years. A PEST analysis is a strategic tool for understanding market growth or decline, business position, potential and direction for operations. It focuses on external factors and it works on a macro scale as it includes economic factors. PEST is an acronym for POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, SOCIO CULTURE, and TECHNILOGICAL.
• Political factors that could affect BMW are government regulations in different countries, tax policies and safety regulations.
• Economic factors that could affect BMW are interest rates, unemployment, economic growth.
• Social factors that could affect BMW are consumer needs, lifestyle, demographics age diversity.
• Technological factors that could affect BMW are communications, licensing and patents, cost and quality.
