SWIS data
As I start to review the SWIS data my hope would be that the number of aggressive referrals would start to go down. I would like to see a downward trend in the number of aggressive referrals during recess time. I would build a spread sheet that would show the number of referrals before the structured recess was implemented, then the number of referrals half way through the implementation period, and then the final numbers at the conclusion of the research project. The hope is that the spread sheet would show a slow, but steady decline in the number of office referrals as the new recess rules were implemented.
Tally sheet There will be two different results that I will be looking for from the tally sheets. The first tally sheet will be looking at the number of aggressive behaviors during recess. My hope is that this number will slow start to decrease as the implementation of the new recess rules start. The fewer number of tally sheets means the fewer number of aggressive behaviors on the playground

This change could upset the teachers, students, and parents. As time goes on and there starts to be positive change in the students’ behaviors, the teachers will start to write more positive information in their daily log. Teachers will have less arguing in their classroom about recess issues, students will start to use more positive talk in the classroom, and everyone will start to feel more involved and included in the classroom.
Common Themes

Since I can remember, withholding recess in elementary seemed like the number one consequence teachers used when a student broke a rule. The only time I ever got in “big” trouble in elementary school was in third grade, and I had to sit in for recess with the teacher. This was devastating to me because like all other children, I loved going outside to play. When I came across this article that devastating childhood memory came back and I knew I had to read it.…
