SWAT Analysis Paper

Recently, the President of the university that I am employed at resigned; as a result, we have a new interim President. The interim President has approached his term with a strategy that I believe is needed to restructure the university. It appears that his approach is to “stimulate a culture of innovation” (Robbins & Judge, 2009) by assessing the organizational structure and completing a performance evaluation for the entire university. A SWAT analysis was performed to determine the university’s strengths and weakness’. This analysis evaluated the organizational structure. Coupled with the SWAT analysis, surveys were distributed to all members of the institution to get the perspective of both the organizational structure and an overall performance evaluation from the members at large. This information was further analyzed in several strategic planning meeting round tables. These efforts are geared toward innovation, “a more specialized kind of change”. (Robbins & Judge, 2009) Authors Robbins and Stevens (2009) state that “innovations in organizations can range from small incremental improvements up to radical breakthroughs. Assessment and Accreditation and Institutional Research are the front liners in this endeavor, these offices are “actively and enthusiastically promoting the ideas, building support, overcoming resistance, and ensure that the innovation is implemented”.
