I have had the opportunity of interacting more directly with the clients in this program. Unfortunately, I have also had the opportunity of seeing some clients removed from the program and others not graduating…

Through working with this program I hope to gain more experience on something that I am truly passionate about which, is working with children. I hope to make a positive impact in these children's lives to be able to help mold them into great human beings. I hope to continue to grow as a professional and be a positive role model. I hope to learn to interact with the children and better understand them instead of reacting to their behavior. Lastly, I hope to be able to work with a team of hard working professionals who inspire me to continue pursuing a career in the field of education also to be able to interact with parents and further develop my social skills.…
At the end of my sophomore year, I was given the position as operations officer for the JROTC program at my school; a position that is usually reserved for a senior, but, my dedication and expertise to the program made me prepared for the post. My position requires me to exhibit excellent public relations, leadership in the program, and disciplinary skills. On a daily basis, I’m presented with questions by other students on how to improve physically and academically at school, in general. Students are somewhat frightened to ask me for help, but I encourage them to seek out help from others because I take pleasure in seeing others succeed in life.. One thing I am big on is physical fitness, especially helping others grow.…
The Prairie Meadows Scholarship would help me pursue an education that would prepare me to succeed on any career path. I plan to go to DMACC and earn my Associates of Arts degree. I know this degree will be a good foundation when I decide what specific career I want to pursue. I know at this time that I’m interested in pursuing a career related to social issues in our world. I know that with any degree I will need the general classes offered in an AA degree.…
Not only will it be a phenomenal learning opportunity for me but also I will be a valued asset to the program. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon to further discuss my skills and…
As stated above, I have a wide range of settings I am interested in working in the future. In order to decide which path is the best for me I will need to gain a wide variety of experiences by witnessing the many facets of the healthcare system. In the past, I have been able to volunteer on a medical mission trip abroad and shadow an urgent care doctor and a family physician. Although these experiences have made be even more fascinated and further increased my interest in serving as a doctor, I have yet to have a holistic view of medicine. This is why I would like to volunteer in the SERV program.…
I’d like to start off by saying thank you for this opportunity not only to better my education but to improve my mentality. I understand that I was chosen based on my GPA but there’s more to a person than just their school abilities. With that being said let me tell you about myself. I am a self motivated, out going, dependable, honest young lady who isn’t afraid to be different and not follow the crowd. I set my own standard, strive for the best and accompany myself with people that do the same.…
For every decision one makes they have a person or an event to accredit as to why they were influenced to make that decision. Previously, I watched shows like Greys Anatomy and envisioned myself saving one’s life as a doctor myself someday. Sometimes what we want in life though is not what we need. The class senior forum helped open my eyes to this realization through a job shadow within that career pathway. I found that working with needles just was not for me.…
In joining the program, I hope to find a mentor who will help me fine tune my life dream. I consider the program to be a meadow grass where my dream would graze towards…
When I first started high school, I enrolled in the STEM program. Being apart of the program meant I had to double up on science, take accelerated classes, and all of my core classes have a focus on science and math. I struggled in high school, with such a large workload, but STEM taught me to persevere and never give up. One of the qualifications needed to graduate with a STEM medal, is that at the end of high school I had to take an Honors Research class.…
My intended STEM major that I choose to study in college is biology. I choose to major in biology because I found it fun and interesting and also because it is something that I needed to have a good understanding of if I plan to have a career in the medical field. I wanted to major in biology because I enjoyed biology in my sophomore year and it was one of the few classes that I was excited about. Although it's going to be harder and more complex in college,it will interesting and a new experience to have a challenge in something that I enjoy learning.…
First, let me you why I chose Prairie View A&M University. When I was younger I always heard about their nursing program and how they were number one in the field. So, I wanted to attend the University and that's what I did and now I'm here and it's completely different from what I imagined it to be. I thought everything was going to be smoove but boy was I wrong. I was so hurt that it wasn't how I imagined and wish someone would have told me these things.…
The program seemed interesting to me, a mixture of the health care field with some business aspect to it, so I contacted the program director and set up a time to meet. After talking with Dr. Jon Thompson, I realized that this program might actually be a better fit for me than what I had originally set out to accomplish in my undergrad. I started taking classes for the program in the fall of 2012, and as you can see from my transcript, I excelled at doing well in these courses. One of the first courses I took in the program, US Healthcare System, really opened my eyes on what healthcare is like in this country. Once I started learning about healthcare, I wanted to know more and more.…
Caltech: Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story. (250 - 650) In my home, I am known as the IT department. Whenever anyone in my family needs technical support, they come ask me.…
