SOIAP Reflection

Decent Essays
This class has provided me with a lot of useful information that I will be able to apply in my career. I understand mainly all the concepts presented in class. However, I would like to practice writing more SOIAP notes. The SOIAP note (subjective, objective, intervention, assessment, and plan) is a strategy used by health care provided to write out notes in client’s charts. The purpose of SOIAP notes is to have a format for organizing patient information. I would like to write more notes on different types of cases. I would also like more clarification on subjective and objective. It seems like these two areas are similar and I would like to have more examples of what to write in these areas. In conclusion, I would like to practice writing

My responsibility for this workshop was to proceed with a handover of a patient to an intern (played by Dr. Michael Adamson). This was a particularly disasterous session. My performance was not only unfit within the scope of academic criteria, but was clearly short of acceptable for a real-world SBAR. During the reading of the scenario I was daunted by the task of having to SBAR report a patient to admission at a hostpital, based on information I was reading for the first time; my practice with the hand-over system was minimal prior to the session.…

This is a very interesting topic for me and a very personal one as well. It hits home for those that are dear to me that there are so many challenges that we have to face on a daily basis regarding the issue of what is legal, moral, and thereof. I think that throughout the United States and across the country that there are many government officials and administration that are faced with the decisions of having to change many rules, policies, and regulation to accommodate the new law that grant same sex individuals and couples the same equal rights and protection to be in a union or marriage like that of the traditional marriage of that of a man and woman. There has been many challenges from many interest groups that was either against or for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).…

The leadership role in which I have had the greatest positive influence in has been as the Fine Arts Commissioner in ASB. As the Fine Arts Commissioner, it is my responsibility to showcase the performing arts in any way I possibly can, and while I have successfully done that, I’ve also successfully created a new rally that now occurs every year. Even though last year was my first year on ASB, I still made an impact on my school by taking charge of said new rally. My ASB director wanted to try having an on-campus winter dance before winter break and we figured the best way to promote the new dance would be through a rally. In addition, my ASB director didn’t want to have cheer and dance perform in this rally, for they perform in every other…

April, I have called in the past prior to me sending out the message and I was informed the same EOB that was online is all they have also and to see if the patient EOB was different. Based on the EOB we have on file and the EOB that UHC have on file it all show the same exact date which is why the copay company is not paying the additional date. I call Ruth with UHC and left a voicemail but she is a register nurse therefore, she may not be able to provide me with a different EOB than what we currently have. I do agree with you that everyone EOB should reflect the same exact thing but if we are not able to get an EOB that reflect each date of service the copay company will not process the other date of service.…

As a, Agender Queer Chicanx I navigate the world as someone that constantly has to evaluate the way I look and behave otherwise I risk putting myself in danger. When I walk into a room I have to make sure that my demeanor and vocal tone are palatable, or risk being profiled and seen as a danger to those around me. When I see law enforcement, I have to automatically start accessing all of my actions of the day to make sure I did not break some law or raise my voice to high. My daily day walking about and taking public transit is clouded with the need to be presentable and be an upstanding citizen or else. All that at a personal level, but maintained by a society that forces me to conform, adapt and be seen as “one of the good ones” in order to live and be seen as worthy of human decency.…

Throughout the first semester of College Composition, I wrestled with three essays, all differing in format and content. The first was a narrative that reflected our educational experience. After this came an analysis of a visual text, followed by a research paper. The narrative was the easiest to write; however, I acquired important skills for writing the other two, which were in a less familiar format. With the three essays, I learned about my own writing skills and habits concerning development and critical thinking, time management, and organization.…

Through my involvement at the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic and at FSA Community Program I learned to work in a team and to always share the same goal as my teammates. This common goal is to give the best and most accurate service to the patient at the clinic, the same goal was shared during my time at FSA. These teamwork experiences have also taught me to provide, accept and use feedback from the members of my group, and to always adapt, improve and develop new skills. Through these three activities, I was able to reinforce my reliability and resilience. By volunteering at a hospital and clinic, I was able to meet different types of patients with very different backgrounds and cultures, which allowed me to reinforce my cultural competence,…

A strong teacher/paraprofessional team is critical to student success. When a teacher and an aide are working together to plan lessons, deliver instruction and evaluate student progress, everyone benefits. Effective communication is the main priority. Teams need training in problem solving and communication skills and must put the strategies they’ve learned into place. Working as a paraprofessional in the Flat Rock, Allen Park and River Rouge school districts is my favorite job to date.…

Over the course of studying E214 I have thought greatly about my own practice working as an HLTA in a mainstream primary school, where I mainly work with children that experience barriers to learning. These barriers are due to the children having special educational needs or due to having English as an additional language. I now question whether the children I work with are part of a system that has created othering and if through them being othered they included as fully as possible or are they still subject to exclusion through the barriers they experience when accessing the national curriculum or through their progress not being as high as expected by society. (online unit 17) The focus of education appears to be about the grades and progress…

switched to electronically taking notes on my laptop. My notes consisted of a series of bullet points that followed the chorological order of the discussion. I wrote down what each individual student was saying (both related and not related to the IPE cases), their level of engagement with the case and their fellow peers, who took the roles of leader, scribe, and timekeeper, their body posture and actions, how they represented their respective fields, etc. Along the margins of these notes, I jotted down my own reactions, feelings, and thoughts to the situation. It was a daunting task to task to transcribe every aspect of the conversation, while making sure my thoughts were in check and that my mind was in the present.…

I'm glad to help you! I probably spent 30 min out of class time on AP Physics and Chem-- I honestly just worked really hard in class and did my HW/reviewed my notes the night before tests. That's totally dependent on how good your teachers are and your own natural ability in the sciences. Today at Simulation Lab I performed health history on a patient. Firstly, I commenced by preparing myself for the interview. Although I was nervous, as a nurse I had to be confident and prepare myself mentally and kept an open mind to meet the patient. In addition to preparing myself, I prepared the environment, making sure seating and arrangement was in place and the room was comfortable and private. Having done this, I utilized Florence Nightingale’s theory of environmental need.…
