SMART System Essay
How can students set achievable goals that will help them in school? To understand what kind of goals need to be set, students will need to learn what their potential ability is capable of. Using the SMART system that is taught in school, will aid students to know what goals need to be set. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. Specific goals focus on desire goals. Measurable goals are goals that are meaningful such as “how to learn to study better.” Attainable goals are goals that achievable. Realistic goals are goals that are possible to be done within his or her ability. Timely goals are goals that have a set time to accomplish. Many students face the problem of setting high goals or goals that are unrealistic and is out of their capability. Starting off with little goals to accomplish can allow students to build their confidence level, such as “study an extra hour instead of playing outdoors, or limit the time with friends to study more”.
