SAT Persuasive Essay

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Test (ACT) exams have been around since June 23, 1926, to be exact. It has been a standard for getting into colleges. These tests can work in your favor or can be very detrimental to your future. The SAT and ACT should not be used as an accurate assessment of a student’s aptitude for college. The reason for this is that a student could be a very keen, hard working person who may not take tests well. Meaning, they most likely will not get into a college, they have been striving for. These exams should not make or break you; students should not have to worry about passing a test that regulates their future. The creators of the SAT believed it to be a test of aptitude or a student’s ability to perform well in college. Aptitude tests academically measure talents that indicate possible achievement in the future, while achievement tests evidently reveal how much someone has learned in the past. No test can truly measure “aptitude” for academic success because school performance is not based on a single factor.
