Dallas Winston, the protagonist in the S.E Hinton the Outsiders teachers her readers many lifelong lessons that stand the test of time. I learned from Dally is never live violent, you will just have a rough live. “He had been arrested, he got drunk, he rode in rodos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks, jumped small kid - he did everything.” I feel that Dally has been through alot, because he is violent. I feel like Dally had a misoupal life always trying to break the law. This relates to my life and future because when ever I did something violent it turned out rough. I don’t what to live a rough life like Dally did.

“Stay golden ponyboy.” That means that Ponyboy should stay good and not do bad things. I thought the book was okay because it wasn’t really detailed like the movie because the movie had more action about the rumble or when dally robs a store and gets shot or even when Johnny dies. The movie was really detailed. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the Movie was more effective in telling the story.…

The evidence to support falling action events relating to the climax in the novel The outsiders by S.E. Hinton culminated naturally after the climax, which was the death of Johnny in the hospital. Similarly, this event caused the chain reaction death of Dallas who felt Johnny was his reason for living. Furthermore, this event linked the two in death as in their life. To say nothing of the bond that Dally and Johnny shared prior to their deaths the reader could envision the same bleak possibility of a brighter future for either of them. Of course, another major event in the falling action category was the gang rumble to exact retribution again for the deaths on either side, sustaining the cycle of never ending violence.…

Although Queen Rania of Jordan says, “We shouldn't judge people through the prism of our own stereotypes,” it may be hard to see through someone’s stereotypical traits. In S.E. Hinton’s realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders, Dallas Winston is a greaser who people might have a difficult time finding traits other than negative ones. The greasers are the lower class people of the town- they are mean, dirty and were known to be criminals. However, the greasers don’t only have negative traits. Dallas Winston has all the stereotypical traits of a greaser, but once anyone gets to know him, he/she realizes that not only is Dally an agitator, but he is also heroic, and he is the toughest member of his gang.…

Written by J.S. Lefanu, “Dickon the Devil” does not possess a real adventurous gothic story as the name suggests. Though the story was written in 1872, the story is more focused on describing the old abandoned place, house interwoven with gothic characters. The main plot of the story is not well described, thus it makes this story just a mundane. This is a story narrated by an undocumented narrator who recalled the incident that happened thirty years ago in Barwyke state where he was sent to look over the properties that was handed to two old maids.…

In the books The Outsiders and The Lord of the Flies, Hinton’s and Golding’s approaches to the themes of challenges, choices, conformity all contrast. For example, in The Outsiders, Hinton’s approach to challenges contrast Golding’s plot and the way they affect the story. One of the challenges Ponyboy faces is the fact that his parents are dead and his oldest brother, Darry, is supporting the family. On page 3, Ponyboy says, “Since Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck, the three of us get to stay together only as long as we behave.” (Hinton 3).…

For my film analysis, I chose to analyze the movie “The Outsiders” directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the novel “The Outsiders” by S. E. Hinton. In this movie, a gang of outcasts from the north side of town called the Greasers are always fighting against a rival group called the Socials, who are the rich jocks from the south side of town. The story follows two young Greasers, Johnny and Ponyboy, who aren’t like the others. These two see that fighting is pointless, but it’s just the way they live their life. The two boys get into a fight with some Socials and end up killing one.…

The societal circumstances of the 1960s that influenced S. E. Hinton to write the book, The Outsiders, were the President, the Civil Rights Movement, and the War of Vietnam. John F. Kennedy was the president from 1961 to 1963 when he was assassinated on November 22, 1963 ending his presidential term (“1960s”). The vice president, Lyndon Johnson, had to step in and lead America. He wanted to help the poor by giving them a hand-up during the harsh times in the ‘60s (History.com Staff). Life experiences change us as people and these experiences can affect our lives both positively and negatively. They teach us lessons that provide wisdom that cannot be obtained in a classroom. However, these lessons can be difficult to grasp at the time they are experienced as it may be through death or harassment. While joyful events can teach us many things, it is the crisis that mainly brings knowledge, especially of how to remain strong in the absence of positivity. Life experiences can also determine our perspective and outlook on life, essentially forming our individual personalities.…
