Ryeland and Dorset Horn.
Ryeland sheep are amongst the oldest of the established British sheep breeds. Although the exact origins of the Ryelands are lost, it is believed that they were derived from the Spanish merino. The wool was of exceptional quality, and this as partly attributed a reflection of the excellent pastoral conditions of the area.

Ryeland sheep are a traditional British sheep breed. They are well known for producing excellent quality lamb and great tasting meat. Ryeland lamb is much looked out for by rare-breed butchers, top chefs, hotels and restaurants. Weavers also seek out Ryeland wool for it texture and quality. Unlike some breeds of sheep, Ryelands are docile and easy to look after, which makes them ideal for smallholders

Upon listening to “Sheep, Sheep, Don’t You Know the Road” by Bessie Jones I immediately recognized the African American music traits. The song plays like a gospel choir in which, there is a verse by one singer, then followed by one by a group. In the background, you can hear stomps, although this is quickly subdued by the loud clapping rhythm. This clapping is called the “offbeat” and is known to be used in African American vocal music to create a “drumbeat”(Candelaria & Kingman 18).…

“Winter swans” and “Letters from Yorkshire” both focus on the natural disconnect and distance that prevail in a relationship and how it is possible to overcome in both. They use an overload of natural imagery to reflect how the relationship they have and the feelings they still have are natural weather their ones of misery or joy. Both Winter swans and Letters from Yorkshire present nature as a powerful force in a relationship. In Winter Swans it is the observation that the swans “mate for life” that brings the couple together. It is clear the swans actions have had a direct impact on the couple’s relationship as the narrator describes the swans as presenting “a show of tipping in unison.…

Popular media forms propagate the idea that ivy league schools are the ultimate destination place for those desiring power and influence. William Deresiewicz, author of Excellent Sheep: The Miseducation of the American Elite and the Way to a Meaningful Life, speaks to the contrary in a Fortune magazine interview, “Students who attend an elite school make the same amount of money as those who could have gone to an elite school but chose not to, because what matters is the kid, not the school.” The promise of an elite education is the perceived path to “success” and wealth, and elite schools often receive praise for their superior graduates and exceptional professors. However, if Deresiewicz is correct and what matters is the individual, what are the elite universities doing for a student who is likely going thousands of dollars into debt to attend? Ivy league universities and other top tier schools are not, in fact, providing the highest quality education possible or promoting genuine…

Through black independent film, Burnett uses the mise-en-scène of Killer of Sheep to depict black female identity in these particular scenes. Burnett successfully transcends and reflects the character’s image in society through the use of everyday matter. The physical lid of the pot is a reflective item, depicting to Stan’s wife a literal image of herself in it. The doll that Stan’s daughter sings to is not only a reflection of her identity and self esteem, but of blackness in a white world. In contrast, Burnett also uses the mise-en-scène to depict black male identity.…
