An example of this theme is when immaculee is walking by the hutus after the genocide while she is with the french refugees and the 7 other women that she had hid with. Then realizes that the genocide is over because no hutu comes up to her and asks her for her identification card . Immaculee writes; “The genocide is happening in people 's hearts...The killers are good but right now evil has a hold of their hearts.(pg.144)” The authors uses figurative language because when she says “The genocide is happening in people 's hearts..” she doesn 't literally mean that the war is happening. And that 's what figurative language is, when an author says something but is not meant in the way that they say it. This supports my theme because Immaculee could have rebelled and could have started killing hutus but she didn 't, because God showed her that the people that are killing are good people they are just in a bad situation where they think killing the the right thing to do when it 's really
