In the novel “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult, the main character Ruth Jefferson demonstrates many acts of our school motto, “Leadership, Honor, Courage” in many different ways. Ruth is an African American labor and delivery nurse, who has been working at Mercy-West Haven Hospital for 20 years. She has always struggled with racism ever since she was little.
