In the lecture, the professor contradicts the ideas presented in the reading passage. Using compelling explanation she points out how the information in the passage is insufficient to reach the conclusions it mentions.
Unlike suggested in the passage, R robustus could have been an active hunter. Even thout it is small in size, it could have easily hunted other baby dinosaurs. Even though R robustus is only about the size of a domestic cat, it could have preyed on smaller dinosaurs which are smaller than itself.
Furthermore, the position of the legs of R robustus to the side and its shortness can not confirm that it could not chase other prey. A tazmanian devil with the same features is an active hunter. Similarly the R robustus could also have chased and hunted other baby dinosaurs.

Instead of biting and chewing food, if it swallows the food as a whole, the bite marks would be absent.
Hence it can be concluded that R robustus could have been an active hunter. It could easily attack baby dinosaurs and animals smaller than its size. Similar to a Tazmanian devil, the physical structure of its leg would not have hindered its speed. And the way in which it swallows its food might have been the reason for the absence of bite marks. All these reasons suggest that R robustus could indeed be a successful

Majungasaurus was an average sized (compared to it’s close relatives) theropod dinosaur that lived in Madagascar from 70 to 66 million years ago, at the end of the Cretaceous Period. Like other abelisaurids (members of the family Abelisauridae) , the Majungasaurus was a two-footed predator with a short snout. Although the forelimbs are not completely known as of yet, they were very short, while the hind limbs were longer and quite stocky. It can be distinguished from other dinosaurs in it’s family by its wider skull, the very rough texture and thickened bone on the top of its snout, and the single rounded horn on the roof of its skull. It also had more teeth in both upper and lower jaws.…

    Hemicentetes Semispinosus

Introduction Hemicentetes semispinosus is a species of tenrecs found on Madagascar that possess black and yellow quills. The trait of the species that is believed to be an adaptation are the quills because the length of the quills vary by 8-15mm (Cho et al. 2012), are barbed and can be detachable, which could indicate that it is used for defense against predators, such as viverrids, owls and boas (Eisenberg & Gould, 1970). Their behaviour also suggests that it is used as a line of defense because when disturbed, they erect their quills, then Hemicentetes semispinosus may try to impale the disturbance by bobbing their head while moving forward. (Marshall & Eisenberg 1996) Similar to Hemicentetes semispinosus, porcupines also have barbed quills,…

Physical Appearance: Tamandua Anteaters are much smaller than Giant Anteaters, but are by no means small. They typically weigh about 2-7 kg, their bodies (head to rump) are 470-770 mm long, and their tails are 402-672 mm long. They almost look like skunks because of their distinct black “V” that reaches from their trunk all the way to their rumps. This black “V” creates the illusion of the Tamanduas’ wearing a vest. The vest stops at their tail, which is naked and has unusual black marks.…

Morphology is the study of the structure and form of organisms. Six skulls were looked at to be determined identified using morphological characteristics. This can determine the genus and species and time the hominid was likely alive. It can also help anthropologists know more about what the living conditions were like in the time that that species was alive. Traits like a sagittal keel or large molars can show that the food that that species consumed was likely tough and required a lot of chewing.…

First, due to the aforementioned fault in Fish’s reasoning, every example that he introduces in an attempt to prove his point, fails to support his argument. Being able to make a logical argument is key to gaining a reader’s trust. For example, if an author uses blatantly incorrect facts or statistics when attempting to prove a point, his or her reader would rightfully disregard the rest of the author's paper simply because they are untrustworthy. The same phenomenon hold true in the example of the article at hand, and so, Fish automatically loses credibility in the eyes of his audience regardless of whether or not his opinion is useful. Moreover, because Fish uses informal language throughout his article, the seriousness of his opinion is put into question.…
