Human rights in America are celebrated, respected and protected. Human rights activists are very vocal and vigilant advertizing for justice and the rights of every American. In Russia however, human rights are subordinated for the common good of the community. The laws are meant to benefit the community as a whole and not focusing on the level of individual citizens. If a particular law is to be passed, as long as it serves the larger community it doesn’t matter about the few individuals who find the law oppressive. American culture allows diverse views, tolerance and pluralism. Everyone’s opinion is valued and respected. In Russia, views are more of a consensus and single truth. The government’s view on any matter is to be passed down under the impression that decisions regarding national matters are to be made by those in power to serve the goodness of the people.
