As an American, what I have seen and heard about Russia, I think Russian citizens are strong and very independent. From the news on the other hand, they may be a strong country but they are very homophobic and weirdly set in their ways. "Russian culture has a long and rich cultural history, steeped in literature, ballet, painting and classical music." (Bradford) The country is a collectivist culture which places high value on their homeland and family. After soviet rule, citizens had a deep mistrust of outsiders.
