Russell's Short Story: Blood Brothers

It all began one day when Russell and Dan went to Russell’s house to finish a science project. They were demonstrating how adrenaline affects our body when humans are scared.
“Where can we go to setup a safe experiment that will give us some conclusive data?” Dan asked.
“How about we investigate that creepy, old, rickety, abandoned house down the street?” he replied with an evil grin.
“No way I am setting one foot onto that property,” Dan replied without looking.
“But it’s a perfect setting to set up an experiment. You are already scared,” Russell responded.
“Fine, but you have to manage all of our equipment and monitors,” Dan concluded.
Later that day they met up, gathered all the parts for their experiment, and set forth towards the desolate

Reaching out to grab the knob the door suddenly jerked open. Dan jumped over the railing and fell into a bush. He was worried that someone was there but instead was met with a bombardment of laughter.
“Save the screams for later,” Russell said as he helped me out of the shrubbery.
“I was just, uh, practicing to get my blood flowing,” Dan quickly added.
“Sure you are,” he retorted as we walked into the door. We can use that chair with the table and set up the devices to read the heart rate.”
“Um, Russell?” Dan whimpered.
“Yes?” he irritably relied.
“By any chance are you breathing down my neck?” Dan asked trembling.
“I’m standing on the other side of the room,” Russell replied uncertainly. “Don’t move. Maybe it has no clue we are even here,” he said in a soft whisper. Before Russell could even finish reassuring Dan, he was met with the scariest “thing” he had ever seen.
“I’m sorry,” Dan whispered. There was a short silence before he decided to run, but he had made the wrong decision. He had made it to the door but the creature was so fast that there wasn’t any noise. No screaming, no footsteps. Silence. After complete isolation for what seemed like hours, Russell decided to run.
