Maths is such a broad, diverse subject and studying the four areas of maths has given me a wide range of mathematical skills whilst also being a lot of fun! There is always something more to learn and understand, and it is that which fuels my dedication to the subject. The challenge that math poses motivates me to spend time working on problems and gaining the satisfaction from finding the solution. Algebra is my favourite area of maths for this very reason. Problems such as finding when a quadratics coefficients are equal to its roots have been thought-provoking whilst giving me a taste of more advanced mathematical theories.
I was fortunate to attend a summer school at a Russel Group University where I took part in experiments, collaborated with new people and got a real insight into life as a student; which was brilliant. I attended a lecture about Algorithms and Classification which focused on the variation in classification problems and since I have been encouraged to find maths in areas of my everyday life which I was once oblivious to, such as face recognition technology. It was also a week …show more content…
As a Physics and Maths mentor to GCSE students I have had the opportunity to develop my communication skills even further whilst sharing my passion and consolidating my own mathematical knowledge through explaining and justifying theories. These skills have been invaluable in my learning and I know they will benefit my future development exponentially as I am able to contribute to group discussions as well as deliver presentations and convey my ideas clearly. I have volunteered with a disabled riding group as well as a charity shop throughout my A levels, this has required me to hone my organisational and time-management skills which will become ever more essential as I continue with my
