Runway Professionalism Essay

This movie was relevant for the discussion on professionalism because everyone in the movie dressed like a professional and acted like it as well. A positive characteristic Andrea and Miranda both demonstrated when concerning professionalism is that they both acted professional where necessary, especially Miranda, and were expected to dress professionally for their jobs. A negative characteristic Andrea demonstrated concerning professionalism is that she did not necessarily want to dress professionally. A negative characteristic about Miranda is that she did not act very nicely toward her assistants and just threw her stuff at them and said not so nice things about them.

She expected Miranda to thank her or give some motion that she was doing something right but Nigel said to wake up and that Miranda was just doing her job. Another lesson Andrea learned in her professional life was to dress the part that you are in. As an assistant, she was expected to dress fashionably and of high quality. However, she did not wear those, nor even knew about dressing professionally until she was told about it. A life lesson that Andrea learned from her personal life was to not put her friends and family before her work. Andrea was very busy, always taking calls from Miranda and doing tasks for her. Whether she was going out with friends or having dinner with her father, once that phone rang, she answered it right away and left to go help out Miranda. Another life lesson Andrea took from this experience was that first impressions mean everything.
