Running Safety Procedures

Decent Essays
Running is a great way to get outside and be active. Whether it is running competitively, or going for a jog, there are safety procedures that need to be followed to avoid injury or danger. Some of these may include finding the right shoes, running with a phone, hydrating properly, and many more.

When going for a run, always be sure to tell someone where you are running and when you plan to be back, so if something goes wrong, they can go looking or call authorities. Failure to follow this procedure could result in dangerous situations. By telling a trusted friend when going for a run, the risk for getting in a dangerous situation reduces dramatically. If there is no one to tell try running with a partner. Be sure to never run without somebody

The Pursuit Policy that I would draft would be an Extreme Caution Policy for High Speed Situations. Safety should always come first. It is necessary sometimes for police to conduct high speed chases; however there should be some provisions. High speed chases should only be conducted in pursuit of dangerous criminals or felons. Crimes should include murder, bank robbery, and/or prison breaks, and other dangerous acts.…

Correct these mistakes and remember not to be harsh on yourself. We all need to make mistakes if we want to reach our full potential. Adopting this approach will not only make a better runner and one more likely to stay injury-free, but a better human being in general. In other words, a running journal will help you understand why a certain run may have proceeded better than another run. For that reason, it gives you an in depth understanding of what makes you a better runner.…

While I have not had nearly as many hardships in my life as Jeannette Walls in her book The Glass Castle, there are still some things that her and I have in common. Throughout the book, Walls endured many struggles while traveling with her dysfunctional family. Jeannette’s father is constantly getting in the way of her success, from stealing her money to not always making her go to school. Eventually, she leaves her parents behind and makes her way to New York City, where she goes to college and finds success. Similar to how Jeannette had to overcome the obstacles between her and her success, her parents in The Glass Castle, I had to overcome the obstacle between me and my success, my bones.…

Running is hard, it takes an immense amount of strength to cross any finish line. Quite like a road race, there will always be a mad dash from the starting line. Just because two runners sprint out to the front doesn’t mean you should run up there with them. There are many runners who are new to pacing themselves and they will go out and continue hard, only to crash and burn a mile later. You need be smart about you race.…

Growing up, I ran from place to place because I had a patience management problem. I did not like waiting or moving unwillingly slow, but I especially did not like getting somewhere late. Thus, my choice of transportation at the time, due to age limitations, was running. In elementary school, I ran just as much as most kids and just as fast. In sixth grade, I had the opportunity to go out for the track and field team, but I did not.…

Running is a huge passion of mine and it has helped me in many ways to become the person that I am today. I joined my school's cross country team in eighth grade and since then running has made me a much happier person. When I was an elementary school student I was not very athletic, I had a lot of trouble in school, and I didn't have many friends. During recess, when most of the other kids were on the playing structure with their friends, on the basketball court, or playing a game I was usually sitting on one of the benches reading a book. I wasn't bothered at all, but I knew I could have been happier.…
