Introduction
Firstly, I have chosen Goodyear because as a firm it has faced numerous lawsuits by its female employees who claim that the firm promotes gender discrimination at the workplace based on differences in pay for women and men as well as other gender issues. The firm has also been sued for dismissing female employees who later claimed that they had been provided with a hostile work environment and then dismissed by the company based on their gender. The characteristics of the U.S economy are such that in most cases women tend to earn less than their male counterparts doing the same jobs (Weinberger, 2011). However, several laws have been passed that seek to reduce the disparity in pay witnessed across the two genders. The U.S laws clearly stipulate that workers doing the same tasks for the same duration of time should be compensated equally regardless of their gender.
I choose to defend the moral standpoint that no company should discriminate against workers of any gender within its workforce and should treat all its workers equally in terms of pay and should also provide a work environment suitable for both genders.
