Running For President

Decent Essays
Since he is running for president it is very had to give the man some slack. While running for president you have to put up your best face and not allow the things you do or the things you have done to change the public opinion about you unless it is for a better result. Of course with running for president anything you say or do will may have a spin put on it until it either sounds good or bad. The media may do this for either bias reasons or for finical reasons. That is why we must use the principle of charity not only for Trump, but for the other candidates as well. Applying this principle will allow us to view all candidates and find out who is best to lead our country. I personally find it very hard to apply this principle to politics

In Chris Matthews, Hardball, he describes political principles which are needed for a politician to get to the front. These ideas can be used by President Trump in order to gain greater support from US citizens and his fellow politicians. In Wayne Steger’s book, A Citizen’s Guide to Presidential Nominations: The Competition for Leadership, he identifies the important factors of the presidential nomination process, which can then be used to understand the 2016 cycle. His argument states that the crucial period of a campaign is during the invisible primary, which is the year or so preceding the delegate selection process. If party stakeholders are cohesive, (as in the Democratic Party,) the race will be predictable; if they are not, (as in the Republican Party,) the outcome is more of a tossup. The outcome and its predictability also have to do with the size of the candidate pool; more candidates lead to more uncertainty. The Democratic pool is much smaller (and much more predictable)…

The invisible primary refers to the period of time between when presidential candidates begin to show interest in running for president, and the period when the public first has an opportunity to demonstrate their support for the candidates through voting. During this period, candidate begin to collect support, endorsements and money from party elites, activists, donors and interest groups. Christenson and Smidt (2012, 598) emphasize the fact that recent scholarship has used a candidate’s level of funding and national political support at the start of the primaries and caucuses as indicators of the successfulness of candidates in the invisible primary. They go on to include party endorsements as an indicator of candidate success, as it is a…

In an era where constant challenges permeated thirteen colonies, there were colonists who searched for peace. Like an eclipse in the sky, peace for these people was never truly believable. Great Britain at the time had occupied these colonies in the Americas, and their King, King George III, perceived them as a simple means of economic investment that would produce huge profits. As a result, these colonies were demanded to pay in trade and always had to pay up for tax imports and exports. However, after consecutive imposing tax acts, along with several casualties, the Americans felt like it was time for a change.…

What if you woke up one morning and you never were embarrassed in front of people and you didn’t care what others thought or said about you, you just do what you do. Well, that is exactly how Donald Trump lives his life. My hero is Donald Trump because he doesn't care how people think of him and he will do what he thinks and knows is best and not what ever anybody else tells him to do, and he is working on getting our country out of debt, he is still investigating Hillary Clinton, and he became the 45th President of the U.S. without being part of the government before running. Trump is a businessman so he knows how to take care of money and he will hopefully get our country out of debt. Some say that he “knows money”…

The Presidency, debatably one of the most successful American experiments to date. Over 200 years ago 55 delegates came together to write the Constitution that our country uses to this today. They debated and discussed how our nation would run, who had power and how much, how to maintain a fair and balanced government, and they outlined each branch. Article two describes the role of the President and the powers that are bestowed onto him; however, article two is significantly shorter than article one (about the legislative branch) allowing whoever presides as President to interpret it to his own accord. These delegates knew that Washington was honorable enough to be granted the power to be the first President of the United States.…
